Design: Inspired by a traditional Japanese toy known as "komen," the fox mask is used during Noh or Kagura performances and has gradually become a traditional Japanese toy. The Japanese regard black and white foxes as auspicious creatures and further believe they are messengers of the Inari deity, guardian of agriculture, capable of moving freely between the human and spiritual realms. Thus, ancient shrine maidens often wore this mask to pray to Inari for a bountiful harvest.
